Govern for Good

Thursday 22 October 2026 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Join us on 22 October for a fundraising event exploring what it means to serve our city through effective, Christ‑centred governance.

Every day we interact with organisations, services, and systems shaped by boards. These boards set the strategy and direction for the institutions that influence our communities, our city, and our nation. This evening invites us to consider how Christian leaders can contribute to governance that is wise, humble, and oriented toward the common good.

Hosted as part of the Board Internship, the event will feature short, engaging reflections on why Christians should serve on boards, how good governance can transform our city, and how the Internship is equipping emerging leaders for faithful service.

You’ll hear from Mel Burke, current Board Intern, and her mentor Irene Yu, Non‑Executive Director with Compassion Australia, on what it means to serve God in the boardroom. Rev’d Dr Andrew Cameron, foundational director of the Centre for Christian Living, will offer insights on how not to govern effectively for Christ. Gary Williams, National Director of CMA, will then share how the Board Internship works and why it is shaping the next generation of Christian leaders.

This event is an opportunity to learn, be inspired, and take a step toward thoughtful, mission‑driven governance in Canberra.

A light dinner will be provided. Ticket purchases will cover the cost of venue hire and food. Any funds raised in excess of these costs will be donated to the Board Internship.

If you’re unable to make it and would like to contribute to the Board Internship, you can donate here.
