Make No Mistake… God Calls Women”:
MOW Conference Returns in November

Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 November 2026

Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture

National gathering to explore the future of women’s ministry and leadership in the Anglican Church.

The Movement for the Ordination of Women (MOW) in the Anglican Church of Australia will host its 2026 conference from 12–14 November, drawing together lay and ordained women, and their allies, for a national, ecumenical gathering focused on leadership, theology and advocacy.

Held at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, the conference carries the bold theme “Make No Mistake… God Calls Women!”, offering both encouragement and challenge for those committed to affirming women’s full participation in the life and leadership of the Church.

This year’s program will engage directly with pressing contemporary questions, particularly the rise of Christian nationalism and populist rhetoric that seeks to reinforce restrictive views of women in ministry. Through keynote presentations and shared discussion, participants will explore how best to respond with theological clarity, pastoral wisdom and renewed confidence in God’s call.

A strong line-up of plenary speakers includes The Rev’d Dr Karen Pack, The Rev’d Dr Elenie Poulos, Dr Rosie Clare Shorter, and The Rev’d Dr Robyn Whitaker, each bringing expertise in theology, ministry and public engagement.

In keeping with MOW’s long-standing mission, the conference will also celebrate the breadth and creativity of women’s ministry, while fostering theological learning, storytelling and connection. Organisers emphasise that participants will leave encouraged and equipped, with fresh ideas, practical resources and renewed determination for preaching, teaching and leadership.

The gathering also offers a valuable opportunity to build networks, with a national, multi-denominational community of support for those committed to gender equality in the Church.

MOW continues to play a vital role in advocating for the full use of women’s gifts in ministry, promoting women’s perspectives in theology, and preserving the history of women’s leadership within the Anglican tradition and beyond.

As the Church continues to wrestle with questions of authority, inclusion and calling, this November’s conference promises to be a significant space for faithful reflection, renewed courage and hopeful action.
