Adelaide to Host “Blessed Is She” Gathering for Anglican Clergywomen.

Anglican clergywomen from across Australia will gather in Adelaide this August for Blessed Is She, a three-day national conference designed to encourage, equip and renew women in ministry.

Running from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 August 2026, the event will bring together up to 80 delegates for prayer, learning and connection in what organisers describe as a significant professional development opportunity for women clergy.

Among the distinguished contributors is the Rt Rev’d Vanessa Bennett, Assistant Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn, whose participation will offer valuable insight shaped by her leadership across parish and diocesan contexts. Bishop Vanessa will join a strong panel of women bishops from across Australia, engaging in open conversation and responding to questions from delegates, an opportunity expected to be a highlight of the conference.

The program features keynote sessions on leadership, governance and theology, alongside practical ministry formation. Topics include the theology of women’s leadership, liturgical leadership, shared history, and honest conversations about joy and disappointment in ministry. Delegates will also benefit from time intentionally set aside for networking, friendship and reflection.

The conference boasts a diverse line-up of presenters, including Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy, Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson, Dr Julia Baird, and leading voices in theology, law, leadership and pastoral care.

Organisers say the gathering responds to a growing call from clergywomen for more intentional leadership upskilling and opportunities to connect across dioceses. While Days 1–3 are reserved for ordained Anglican women, Day 3 will also welcome ordinands and those discerning vocation.

Registration is $100 for employed clergy, with free places available for those in financial hardship, ordinands and enquirers.

Places are strictly limited and expected to fill quickly.
