Once again, the World Council of Churches (WCC) has set aside eight days in September for Christians to pray for Israel and Palestine and to hear the cry for peace, justice and hope.

Resources for the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel will be available on the WCC website (https://www.oikoumene.org) for clergy and intercessors to use. In addition, this could be a good time for parishes and ministry units to highlight the Anglican Board of Mission’s partnership with the Diocese of Jerusalem. ABM is also supporting projects in Palestine such as the Gaza Child Nutrition Project and the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza.

A direct link with our Diocese and the Holy Land is the sisterchurch relationship that St Saviour’s Cathedral has with St George’s Cathedral in Jerusalem.

Prayer for this troubled and special part of our world complements the Season of Creation, also observed in September, as we work and pray for justice for all creation and all peoples.

Let us come together to pray, learn and act.
