It was a great pleasure to welcome our Provincial President, The Reverend Anne Kennedy, to our diocese for this special occasion. Anne presided over our Eucharist at which the Rector, The Reverend Dr Tim Watson, preached a sermon on the legacy of Mary Sumner’s vision, our Charter and the implications for the church of today if Mothers’ Union is to play a role.
As we endeavour to forge stronger links with our youth, it was great to have Ben Paton (Synergy Youth & Children’s Ministry) join us for this celebration as we look to an intergenerational relationship that benefits both organisations.
Following the Communion Service, President Anne spoke to us about the MULOA experience (MU Listening, Observing & Acting). She explained its origins and its place in the plans going forward for our organisation globally. It was a wonderful session made extra special by the presence of Bishop Mark and his wife Monica, the newest members of our MU in Canberra & Goulburn.
It is also with great delight that I maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.
Our members enjoyed a delicious home-cooked, hot lunch served by the Holy Cross Branch at which Bishop Mark and Monica spoke briefly to all gathered, inviting our prayers as they step out in ministry to the people of Canberra & Goulburn.
Our next diocesan meeting will be the Advent Service to be held at St Saviour’s Cathedral in Goulburn, where The Very Reverend Dean Saunders will preach. We look forward to joining with Reverend Anne Wentzel and the Goulburn group for this occasion (Thursday, 5th December, 2019 at 10.30 am).
