South Wagga Anglican Church (SWAC) is partnering with Carevan Wagga Incorporated to provide night time meals and social connection to people experiencing need in the wider Wagga community. Carevan is a not-for-profit local charity which has recently commenced operations in Wagga, based on a proven model in Albury. Food is sourced from suppliers, supermarkets, Food Bank, OzHarvest, restaurants and bakeries, and cooked by students at Wagga’s high schools. Meals are served at different locations around Wagga on three nights per week, with St Alban’s Kooringal and St Paul’s Turvey Park each providing a venue on a fortnightly basis. The meals are delivered to the sites in the eye- catching ‘Carevan’, and served by the Carevan volunteers. Volunteers are drawn from both SWAC congregations, as well as members of the wider community. It has beena blessing to get to know our guests, to offer hospitality and share in community. Carevan offers many opportunities to volunteer, and new team members are always welcome.
